Michael Valley Mike joined ATC in 2023 and is responsible for project management, oversight, and quality control on the development of ATC products and publications. Prior to joining ATC, Mike spent 32 years as a consulting engineer in private practice. His practice included a balanced mix of new design; evaluation and rehabilitation of existing construction; and applied R&D, code development, and education. He has developed special expertise in seismic design, foundation analysis and design, and development of codes and standards. In recent years Mike has been a key participant in the development of performance-based seismic design approaches, and he has applied those approaches to both new and existing construction, especially for highrise buildings and where enhanced seismic performance is desired (as for hospitals and other essential facilities). Mike also has extensive experience as an ATC consultant serving as a reviewer, a technical contributor, and Project Director on multiple ATC projects. |
